Lack of Predictability and Mental Health During the COVID-19 Pandemic

As the world begins to come out from under the COVID-19 pandemic, parents should pay particular attention to their children’s mental health. According to an article in Psychiatric Times, “predictability is a stabilizing force for children and adolescents, but it has been disrupted since the COVID-19 outbreak.” As the article states, uncertainty in parents’ lives makes it difficult to calm anxieties in children. The pandemic has led to increased depression and anxiety among children and adolescents. Parents should seek evaluations if ever they have any concerns about their children’s mental health.
